BEE’S BAT MITZVAH

6.13.2026 — Carleton Hotel,
Oak Park, IL

The Brief
For Beatrix's Bat Mitzvah, the brief was pretty simple, a beach themed celebration with a bee for the logo, a nod to her nickname.

The Work
I set out to design a bee that felt playful and beach ready, eventually landing on an illustration of the bee riding a surfboard, exactly the essential detail Beatrix had asked for.

Along the way, I found an opportunity to build in a small surprise: shaping the bee's wing into a capital B, a subtle nod to her name that became a favorite detail once she spotted it. That monogrammed bee became the anchor for the entire celebration, carried across every piece of print, merchandise, and signage on the day.
